Momcozy Air 1 Review

I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it...🎵

When I had first laid eyes on this blurred out pump advertisement on the Momcozy website all I could think was, "they’re taking a page out of Willow’s Go pump design!" Boy, was I right. You can read the Willow Go review HERE. It’s a smart design, but guess who did it better? Yep, Momcozy. It’s kind of funny how Momcozy took two key features from two of the original pump companies, put their twist on it, and made a real hybrid. You called it, between the Willow Go open face design and Elvie sensors, which suck btw, I now present you the Momcozy Air 1 or as I like to call it the A1!!

Let’s deep dive into the A1 and see if it’s a right fit for you!

I don’t even know where to start. I want to state that I don’t think Momcozy got their chargeable case design from Eufy, simply because product development doesn't happen over night. So unless there was a mole, I’d be willing to bet they just think alike. Regardless, I’m happy to have another rechargeable case on the market! If you read my Eufy review HERE, you’ll see my first thought of the rechargeable case was a little extra... Well, someone slap me, because I have been loving it! When I went to Vegas in March I brought both my Eufy S1 Pro and Momcozy Air 1, neither of which I had to charge! I went with two full charged cases and let them do their thing while enjoying myself on vay-kay! The Momcozy case, in my option, can teeter the line of imperfect. Why? I love how the motors sit in the case, there’s no chance of the motor disconnecting from the power source. However, as great as this design is, there’s also a chance for liquid to settle at the bottle of the case and fry the connectors when actively charging. Is this the worst thing ever? Well it can be, but if you stay aware of how you handle your pump after sessions you can avoid this mishap. *Note to self* dry your pumps before attaching back to charging case! Recap: this case is the cats 🍑 - taking three hours to charge the case alone, add two more hours, making five total hours to 100% charge the case and two motors. A full charged set of Momcozy A1’s are said to last for 6 sessions at 30 minutes apiece. Keep in mind, if you’re constantly putting it back in the case it will continue to exercise and continuously charge the pumps. I have yet to have any issues with the battery reliability of these pumps, I’ve been super impressed.

What comes with your purchase, I think this is notable because you'll be happy to learn that in addition to a USB-C charger to charge your case, you'll also receive a USB-C magnetic charger to charge a hub independently. You'll also find three flange inserts: 17, 19, 21mm. And if you're not using the rechargeable case, you'll be provided with flange covers that have a convenient hook design with magnets that will keep the parts connected.

If not traveling with the case you will also have this magnetic cover

So what about the pumps, how many parts are we talking? You’ve got the silicone flange that snaps into place, thanks to a set of ball bearings that align in the groove of the flange. I love this design, as far as assembly goes. I think it was a great touch and keeps your flanges in place. So is this flange a true silicone flange? I have to disagree, I’m not too keen on the flange as a stand alone. But I do appreciate the way it’s constructed. Not jumping ahead, but the A1 is super slim, on principle alone- anything slim is going to reduce flange length. What did Momcozy do to combat this? Where the flange inserts into the motor, they’ve designed it in a way to gain a small amount of length. Any additional length in an already short tunnel is welcomed. In addition to the snap in flange you’ve got their unique designed backflow protector and “duckbill”. Pretty simple, not much to report on. Back to the tunnel and flange, so I cannot use this pump as a naked pump. The first time I did I definitely had discomfort, being completely honest I was like, “aw shit” because I was really hopeful based on the design alone. So what has changed from my first use to my regularly current use now? Breast cushions! No, not inserts, cushions! Read the difference HERE! I will admit not being able to use the pumps as is kinda sucks, but I am super happy with my experience with adding cushions- it’s made my sessions 100% more comfortable and super reliable. It’s like night and day. If you’re not opposed to adding in extras to potentially make a pump more functional, then this shouldn’t be too much of a red flag.  Which cushions am I using? I require a 24mm and 21mm normally; so with the A1, I have been using THESE on my 24 side and THESE on my 21 side. It’s been glorious, haha.

I want to share a little more why I find them a little uncomfortable without cushions, back to that short tunnel paired with my elastic tissue. The cushions hold back on my tissue, as I've always shared. I have found the Elvie cushions are the ticket for these pumps, the other cushions work too but those Elvie cushions are just something real special. As I say in the A1 Chit-Chat, these cups are completely see through, so you'll be able to see where any, if at all, discomfort is coming from AKA bouncing off the back of the flange.

Another benefit to this flange design, similarly to the V1 Pro cups, these transparent parts leave no question as to your nipple alignment. Even as a seasoned pumper, I find myself looking into my bra upon startup just to confirm alignment is perfect- it’s really as easy as it sounds. If alignment has been an issue for you in the past, it won’t be any longer.

Let’s chat about the most obvious, and possibility the most appealing, feature of this whole setup- the super slim profile!! Yes it’s time to chat about the best part. Is it possible to make a more slim pump that holds 6 ounces? I think not, but if so, I’d love to see it. This design is very impressive, especially when considering the large amount of volume it’s able to hold. One thing I will warn against, these cups will hold an impressive 6 ounces, but it does come dangerously close to the plug. This plug also has a weep hole for venting purposes, which is a must, but it will allow for a little leakage if you're moving around a lot. So are they leak proof? No, they're not but they are darn close to it. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, Momcozy has extremely talented engineers.

There’s really no way around it, this pump is going to satisfy the need of many moms for a less bulky pump that can do it all. Want me to knock your socks off? I’d love to, check out this side by side of the Willow 360 and the Momcozy A1. Did I pick the most obnoxious pump on the market for this side by side? Yes, yes I did.

Willow 360 vs Momcozy Air 1

So let's do another, here’s the Willow Go and the Momcozy A1, a bit more fair, still a huge difference.

Willow Go vs Momcozy Air 1

I wear a large in all pumping bras, I measure 36DD, and I swear these pumps are not easy to spot while in my bra. Again, super impressive.

On to the next wow factor. The app and the sensors! If you know anything about my opinion on tech in your bra, you’ll know I’m not super keen on it. I don’t think it’s something that should be used constantly; but sporadic use doesn’t have me running the other way. So how do I feel about the Momcozy A1 tech ability? To say I’m impressed is an understatement.  The sensors on this pump are super accurate, in real time, may I add. I think that’s that best part! For example, recently I was getting my nails done while pumping with the A1. I had the app open on the table ahead of me and could tell when I was getting close to overflowing- we will touch on that next. With the ability to watch my cups fill, I was able to judge when to stop the pumps independently with the app. This made for a confident and dry pump session, no guessing, no worries. So do these pumps overflow? They sure can. Although these sensors are super accurate and the app is very in tune, the pumps will not trigger off before they overflow. They will, however, give you endless alerts that they’re about to overflow, they also vibrate in your bra as a warning that they’re about to make a mess. I can appreciate that they don’t trigger off, because when compared to the Elvie sensors and how they’ll trigger off with an inaccurate volume reading and give the user a run for their money to complete their session, the A1’s don’t have this issue. I’d rather be warned that shits about to hit the fan, than the pumps trigger off independently but inaccurately.

What else does this app do? Well you can control the pumps independently of each other or sync them. There’s endless ways to use this pump, you’ll find which mode works best for you, if not, you can design your own pattern too. This app is super simple to use and adds another notch in their belt.

Is this pump perfect, no flaws, no imperfections? Now would I be a reliable reviewer if I only delivered the good information? No. I trust no one who only delivers the bright side to everything. So what about this pump is a flaw, in my opinion. I have found on more than one occurrence that when removing the cup from the hub, trapped milk in the tunnel will fall onto the flat base of the hub and cause a bit of a mess. I’ve only found this to be the case when I fill the cups up pretty darn high. I don’t think it’s the worst thing to report on but it can cause a mess, and any milk that doesn’t end up in a storage bag or bottle is extra annoying.

Last but not least, and possibly the one actual disadvantage to this pump, is the volume. It’s not the loudest pump I’ve used, but it’s not as quiet as others. While in Vegas the volume didn’t even phase me. Why would it when all I could hear was cha-ching, cha-ching?! But in a quiet setting it will draw some attention. If there was anything I could change about this pump, it would be that, the volume.

So what’s the deal, how much do they cost, and do I have a discount code? This has been a common question in my DMs. The Momcozy Air 1 was released to Target before anywhere else. Get it HERE! Obviously I don’t have a discount code with Target, that would be cool but I’m not that popular. As for Amazon or direct, as of April 4th Momcozy cancelled all pre-orders made at on their direct website and are now listed sold out. They have shared this is an inventory issue. As soon as I have information to share, I will be sure to report back.

In the meantime, I will work on comparisons! This will help dial in which direction you may want to go. It was asked of me to provide a Momcozy Air 1 vs. Momcozy M5 vs. Eufy S1 Pro... PHEW!

Comin’ right up!

~Let's share a few BMBF A1 polls in the meantime~

I think sharing how many actually voted helps!
