Before we dive into the in's and out's of the Motif Aura mobile cups, it's important to state that no mobile breast pump is intended to be the primary means of milk expression. Yes, they can be helpful tools, but for most breastfeeding moms, they just won't cut it as the sole means of milk expression.
Why the Motif Aura doesn't work:
Okay, so this is my personal theory...but I'm pretty sure it's true. Going back to the basics, babies don't "nipple feed" they "breastfeed." We don't use a "nipple pump", we use a "breast pump." The Motif Aura is designed to simply sit on the breast, pulling ONLY the nipple into the flange. This just isn't and effective way to express breastmilk.
To clarify, flange sizing is important because we don’t want extra breast tissue pulled into the flange HOWEVER we do want our breasts to play role in removing milk. This is why we don’t NIPPLE FEED, we BREASTFEED.. why we don’t NIPPLE PUMP, we BREAST PUMP.
