Looking for hospital grade, endless combinations of suction levels, single pumping, alternating or synchronized pumping AND duel motors, the Unimom Opera+ is hands down the way to go.
⠀
Right out of the box I was impressed with the size of this pump! Then once powered on and the chance to start changing modes, options and suction strength I was wowed all over again. This pump can really do it all, the LCD touch screen is easy to use and operate. Adjusting each duel motor suction strength individually took me a minute to figure out (set single L and single R individually then switch to alternating or synchronized pumping) but it’s easy enough and works seamlessly once set.
⠀
The first time I used this pump I didn’t respond as well as I would have liked. I was concerned that since I responded so well to this pump in the first 15 minutes I was going to have trouble responding to this pump for any additional let downs. This was the issue I had with the Zomee, since the Opera+ and Zomee have the same ownership in common I was worried maybe I’d experience a similar situation. However, a few mins after what I thought would have been my final let down due to desensitization to this pump, I had another let down. I was very relieved for this letdown and it gave me hope for future sessions with this pump. Moving forward I never had a reason to question it’s ability to move and trigger letdowns again. Long story short, I fell in love.
⠀
The Unimom Opera+ has been known to be covered under insurance. I think because this pump is a lesser known hospital grade pump when compared to the popular hospital grade pumps it may be easily overlooked. I’ll admit, I’m guilt of this. But after using this pump I really believe it should be one of the front runners, I’d love to see this pump offered to postpartum moms in recovery following delivery.
⠀
The only downside to this pump, if you consider this a disadvantage, there is no built in vibration. I for one prefer my pumps not to have a vibration supplied by the pump, I’d rather use an external vibration source ie lactation massagers. This pump has so many suction and cycle level combinations it would be hard not to find what works for you. I hope this pump becomes increasingly more popular in the near future!

Update! Quick story and testament to the effectiveness of Opera+!
My sister-in-law Gina had been struggling with reoccurring clogs, she just can’t kick ‘em. After multiple attempts to “bust” two clogs found in her right breast, she paid my house of pumps a visit and has the pick of the litter. She chose the Opera+, quickly also impressed by its size and light weight. After only 14 minutes into her session and some gentle hands on massaging she noticed the knots her in breasts starting to deflate. Boom, two clogs gone! This pump has a wide range of cycle options, 26-42 in expression mode and 60-100 in massage mode, it’s truly impressive and has proven its self most effective.
⠀
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, if this pump is eligible under insurance or for a reasonable upgrade, I’d be all over it!
